We want to wish you a Happy National Library Week(NLW)!! This year, NLW will run Sunday, April 10 – Saturday, April 16, 2011. The Corcoran Library is celebrating NLW with an exhibition in the Corcoran Gallery. Selected Artists’ Books from the Corcoran Library is an impromptu exhibition featuring 17 artists books from the Library’s collection*. The exhibition will run Sunday, April 10 – Sunday, April 17 in the Tyler Gallery.
There will be a reception open to students, faculty, staff, and select invitees (that’s you!) on Thursday, April 14 from 4:00pm-6:00pm in the Corcoran Gallery Atrium to celebrate National Library Week. Admission is not required to view the artists’ book exhibition or attend the reception.
Following the reception, we invite you to stay for the Scholar’s Selection Gallery Talk where Ellen G. Miles, curator emerita, department of painting and sculpture at the National Portrait Gallery will discuss Charles Peale Polk’s portraits of William Wilson Corcoran’s parents (6:30-7:45, free with Gallery admission) or a lecture by visiting designer Jeremy Mende of Mende Design (7:00-8:00, free).
