Speed Mentoring for New Information Professionals

The District of Columbia Library Association (DCLA), DC Special Libraries Association (DC/SLA), the Federal and Armed Forces Libraries (FAFLRT) and the Federal Library and Information Centers Committee (FLICC) Human Resources Working Group invite new and transitioning professionals to a Speed Mentoring event, Wednesday, May 25th.

Registration: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GDBDZML
Space is limited. We will confirm your registration within 24 hours, and you will be sent information for payment through PayPal or by check at that time. Cost is $10 for students and unemployed or retired members of DCLA; $15 for members of DCLA; $20 for non-members.

Modeled on speed dating, speed mentoring is a low-stress, fun way to make connections with leaders in the profession and explore career directions. Over the course of the evening, you will have the opportunity to meet with up to six mentors for one-on-one, 10 minute conversations, in which you can showcase and get feedback on your skills and qualifications, ask for career advice, or learn more about a mentor’s field of practice.

Join us at Jenner & Block, 1099 New York Ave NW. Sign-in opens at 5:45; networking and refreshments start at 6:00; speed mentoring begins at 6:30. Closest Metro station is Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange lines).
