Call for Mentees — ARLIS DC-MD-VA Mentoring Program — Deadline September 13, 2013

This is a call for mentees to participate in the newly established Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS) DC-MD-VA chapter mentoring program.  We welcome applications from students or young professionals interested in learning more about working as an arts information professional.  If interested, please submit the following information by 9/13/13 to Eden Orelove at edeno@gwmail.gwu.edu with the subject heading ARLIS mentee application:

  1. Contact information, including name and email
  2. Current program of study/work
  3. What specific tasks and areas of arts librarianship you are interested in (i.e. museum, academic, reference, collection development, etc.)
  4. Please provide a short (1-2 paragraphs) response as to why you want to participate in this mentoring program and what you hope to get out of it.

If selected, you will be matched with a professional art librarian in the DC metro area.  The program will be designed by you and your mentor – you will decide the amount of time and effort that you both want to commit to the relationship and how to best communicate.  There are currently mentors signed up who work at locations including the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian Libraries, and the Library of Congress, among others.  This is a great opportunity for aspiring or new art librarians, so sign up today!
