Internship Opportunity: AA/PG Renwick Collections Project

Project Title: American Art Portrait Gallery Renwick Collections project

Dates preferred: Jan-May 2014 (flexible)

Full time or Part time (if Part time, give hours per week): Part time (~15-20 hrs per week)

Number of weeks: 6-10 weeks

This project would be ideal for the following candidate: One with the ability to work independently, who has basic knowledge of library services. 

Project Description: The AA/PG (American Art/Portrait Gallery) Library seeks an intern to help merge a separate collection of craft, design and decorative arts materials with the main collection. This will include unpacking, comparing duplicates, beginning withdrawal paperwork, making acquisition recommendations for what is not cataloged, relabeling, etc.

In addition to this primary project, the intern will also gain general library experience, which may include circulation and reference, working with special collections, gift and exchange, periodicals, vertical files, and maintenance of the physical collection through space management and conservation procedures.

The intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in making mission-related decisions on withdrawals, creating a work-flow, basic collections maintenance and basic library functions.
