Vacancy Announcement: Digital Projects Coordinator, National Gallery of Art

The National Gallery of Art is seeking applicants for a permanent, full-time professional position in the library’s administrative department. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the library division’s digital projects coordinator.

Librarian (Digital Projects Coordinator) (GS1410-11)

The incumbent reports to the executive librarian and serves as project manager in conjunction with the division’s department heads in developing, implementing, and maintaining a systematic digitization program.

The incumbent:

  • Coordinates the development, implementation, maintenance, and preservation of the library’s digital collections, which include digitized rare materials and special collections, image resources, and born-digital content;
  • Formulates procedures for the creation, accessioning, intake, and long-term preservation of the library’s digital assets;
  • Manages application of division and institutional standards and guidelines for creating, managing, assessing, preserving, describing, and delivering digital collections to Gallery staff and the scholarly community;
  • Assesses the efficacy of existing workflows and recommends improvements to processes related to digitization and metadata creation in a variety of formats.
