1. Introductions
Chair Sharon Wasserman called the meeting to order by asking for introductions from the members present. After introductions Sharon reminded members of the upcoming election for officers. Positions of both Secretary/Treasurer and Vice-Chair/Chair elect are open for the coming two-year terms. Sharon also asked for volunteers to serve on the Chapter’s two professional development committees; the travel award and the diversity committee.
2. Website
The new chapter website is still under construction but moving forward, all parts are in HTML. Joan Stahl and Louise Greene hope to have the site up by the end of the summer with help from Joan’s graduate assistant.
3. Fall Meeting
The fall meeting is scheduled as a joint ARLIS/VRA meeting in Williamsburg in October. Sharon called for speakers and program topic ideas.
4. Announcements:
Stephanie Moye of the Smithsonian Institute’s American Art Museum spoke of an upcoming exhibition titled Picturing Words, a history of the book and illustrations. The exhibition will have a website component. Stephanie offered to sponsor a meeting and special curator tour in Summer 2005.
Regina Koehler again asked for help in gathering the chapter history through old records and founding member accounts. Marilyn Wassmann offered to find a memo listing past meetings up to the 1990s and send it to Regina. Several member names were suggested as good contacts for the Chapter history including Caroline Backlund, Anita Carrico, Pat Lynagh, and Roger Lawson.
