Membership

Membership in the ARLIS/NA Mid-Atlantic Chapter is open to individual members of ARLIS/NA, who are entitled to vote and are eligible to hold office in the Chapter. Non-members of ARLIS/NA may join as Friends of the Chapter upon payment of membership dues, but may not vote or hold office. All Chapter members participate in Chapter activities, receive announcements of meetings, and are included in the Membership Directory. The membership term runs from January 1-December 1 each calendar year. Dues paid on or after October 1 apply to the following year.

Membership Types

The Chapter has three membership types:

  • Individual (open to those who belong to ARLIS/NA) – $20/year
  • Friend of the Chapter (open to those who do not belong to ARLIS/NA) – $25/year
  • Student (not to exceed three years) – no cost

Join or Renew

To join or renew, please fill in the online form and follow the instructions to pay online, or print out the paper membership form and follow the instructions to pay by check. If you have questions, or need to submit your membership details and payment another way, please contact the Chapter Secretary/Treasurer Danielle Brogdon.

If you are a member of the national ARLIS/NA organization, or would like to be, you can also choose to bundle your chapter membership with your ARLIS/NA membership through their website.

Membership Directory

The Chapter also publishes a member directory – with institutional contact information – on the Chapter website. You may indicate if you do not wish to be included in the website listing.

Caroline Backlund Travel Award

In Spring 2002, the first annual Caroline Backlund Travel Award was granted to assist a chapter member in attending the ARLIS/NA Annual National Conference. The award is named in honor of Caroline Backlund, who was a longtime ARLIS/NA and local Chapter member with a distinguished and influential career in art librarianship.

Contributions to the Travel Award Fund are solicited annually, along with membership renewal or application. Thanks to generous donations, the fund is definitely healthy; however, it will need to be replenished each year in order to provide an annual grant. Please consider making a contribution in any amount.
